These patterns can never be 'designed' or 'built' in one fell swoop-- but patient piecemeal growth, designed in such a way that every individual act is always helping to create or generate these larger global patterns, will, slowly and surely, over the years, make a community that has these global patterns in it.[ A Pattern Language]

This is where long-term dreams live. The overarching philosophy (arcology) is: keep it simple where possible (fall through). Get a feel for when to optimize (other things equal), then apply it consistently (uniform processing) and everywhere (system wide).

To scale, you'll need to keep things miniaturized (self documenting), focussed (no redundancy), and independent (decoupled).

To build, you will need specifics. To dream you need only guidelines.
